The upcoming iPhone 17 Pro is set to feature a chipset developed on TSMC’s 2nm process, as per a recent report. TSMC had previously announced their work on the 2nm process, with speculation already linking it to the iPhone 17 Pro.

Recent developments have confirmed these rumors, revealing that small-scale production on the 2nm process will begin at TSMC this year, followed by mass production in 2025, aligning perfectly with the iPhone 17 Pro’s expected release in the fall of next year.

iPhone 17 Pro to be the first with a chipset built on TSMC's 2nm process

Earlier reports indicated that Apple had secured TSMC’s entire 2nm process for the iPhone 17 Pro and possibly future Apple Silicon Macs as well.

Following the 2nm process, an enhanced version is expected by the end of 2026 before transitioning to 1.4nm, assuming the accuracy of this report.

The iPhone 16 series and iOS 18, anticipated later this year with a focus on AI, will not include 2nm chips for on-device AI processing.
