The SE series has continuously evolved its design, starting with the shape of the iPhone 5s, then transitioning to the larger iPhone 6-8 style body for the SE (2020) and (2022) models. Now, there are indications that the upcoming iPhone SE 4 will take inspiration from the design of the iPhone 14. Recent images of a metal dummy confirm this new design direction, showcasing a more modern look for the SE lineup.

For the first time in the SE family, the iPhone SE 4 will feature an OLED display, supplied by BOE. This display will mimic the 14-series display, complete with a wide notch for FaceID, another first for the SE lineup. Additionally, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to utilize the iPhone 14’s battery technology.

Unlike its 2022 predecessor, the iPhone SE 4 will be a significant leap forward in terms of design. While drawing inspiration from the iPhone 14, it will maintain unique characteristics, such as a single camera module. The iPhone SE 4 also diverges from upcoming iPhone 16 models by not adopting a Capture Button, instead opting to retain the Ring/Silent switch. Overall, the upcoming SE model promises a more modern aesthetic compared to previous iterations.

Rumors suggest that the iPhone SE 4 may be delayed until 2025, despite earlier predictions of a 2024 release. However, if case makers are already gearing up for production, the launch may still happen sooner. Only time will tell when Apple’s latest addition to the SE series will hit the market.
