A few weeks ago, the Galaxy M55 and M15 were revealed for the Brazilian market, and this week, they made their debut in India. Our focus is on the M55 mid-range model – its unique blend of features may make it the ideal phone for you. Or maybe not?
Comparing it with the previous M54 and the alternative A55 models, the Samsung Galaxy M55 stands out with its pricing. Starting at BRL 3,000 for an 8/256GB configuration in Brazil, and ₹27,000 for an 8/128GB variant in India, with options for 8/256GB at ₹30,000 and 12/256GB at ₹33,000. This model also includes a microSD slot for expandable storage, similar to the A55.
The M55 surprises with 12GB of RAM, more than some flagship Galaxy models, and it is the first mid-range Samsung device to support 45W fast charging, a feature usually reserved for high-end phones. The phone’s battery capacity is 5,000mAh, slightly smaller than its predecessor but still larger than flagship models like the Galaxy S24+. In terms of cameras, the M55 boasts a 50MP selfie shooter and a 50MP main camera with a substantial 1/1.56″ sensor.
While the 6.7” FHD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and the innovative 45W charging capabilities are impressive features, the M55 does raise eyebrows with its Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset. This might not offer the same level of performance and efficiency as newer chipsets, making it a questionable choice for some users.
In terms of pricing and specifications, the Samsung Galaxy M55 fares well against the A55 and A35 models. However, when compared to other mid-range offerings such as the OnePlus Nord CE4, Poco X6 Pro, and Nothing Phone (2a), its shortcomings become more apparent.
Despite its drawbacks, for those loyal to the One UI and Samsung ecosystem, the Galaxy M55 presents an attractive option in the mid-range segment. Would you consider purchasing one? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
