With the global push for a more environmentally friendly future, our government is also joining in to bring comfort and technology together. After introducing electric cars and two-wheelers, the next step is to see electric buses on the roads.
According to reports, the capital city of Islamabad will be the first city to experience this move towards sustainable mobility. Last year, the Sindh government also operated electric buses in Karachi.
The Specifics
A Chinese company has launched the first fleet of electric buses, marking a significant step towards a cleaner and greener future. The unveiling ceremony, attended by Pakistani authorities, emphasized the collaborative efforts to modernize public transportation in the capital city.
With the necessary approvals in place, the CDA announced the upcoming deployment of 30 state-of-the-art electric buses, with plans for a total of 160 such buses, as part of their commitment to a more environmentally friendly public transportation system.
Route Information
The CDA shared plans for the electric buses to operate on 13 public routes in the federal capital, seamlessly connecting with the existing Rawalpindi Islamabad Metro Bus routes.
Initially, residents of Islamabad can expect to see electric buses operating on two main routes, from IJP Road to PIMS and from Taramri Chowk to PIMS. These routes have been carefully selected to improve commuting convenience for residents and provide a cleaner and quieter alternative to traditional buses.
The integration of electric buses with a strong charging infrastructure sets the stage for a sustainable public transportation system that not only reduces carbon emissions but also embraces the future of clean and efficient mobility in Islamabad.
With the introduction of electric buses, Islamabad is on the brink of a green revolution that will surely inspire other cities to follow suit in the pursuit of a sustainable tomorrow.
