Isuzu has introduced a battery electric (BEV) version of the D-Max pick-up truck, which is currently available in diesel. This truck, equipped with All-Wheel Drive and impressive payload capabilities, will compete with the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger, both offering hybrid options globally.
Ian Able, Managing Director of Isuzu UK, expressed excitement about the Isuzu D-Max BEV, describing it as a blend of D-Max toughness with electric technology. This environmentally friendly option aims to provide customers with performance and reliability without compromising on sustainability.
Here are some key details about this upcoming workhorse:
Power and Payload
The all-electric pick-up will feature a 66.9kWh lithium-ion battery generating 130kW of power. With dual electric motors in the front and rear axle, it offers all-wheel drive and a top speed of 81mph. While the driving range is undisclosed, it boasts a payload capacity of 1 ton and a towing capacity of 3.5 tons, slightly lower than its diesel counterpart.
D-Max BEV Launch
Isuzu plans to launch this electric pick-up in Europe next year, expanding to the UK, Australia, and other markets based on demand and charging infrastructure. This vehicle promises a smooth and quiet ride on rough terrain and city roads, meeting both commercial and passenger expectations.
Exterior Enhancements
The Isuzu D-Max electric prototype showcases subtle but distinctive changes to signify its BEV technology. The new front grille is bold and larger, adorned with blue accents on the sides. It also includes six-spoke alloy wheels, maintaining the same body styling as its diesel variant with added aerodynamic appeal.
Isuzu’s launch of an electric truck with impressive towing and payload capacities signifies a significant stride in boosting the electric commercial market. Hopefully, this remarkable vehicle will soon arrive in Pakistan.
