Suzuki Every is the all-new microvan by Pak Suzuki. Launched two days earlier, Every is currently the most trending topic in our automotive market. Currently, Suzuki is offering two variants, VX and VXR. VX is the base variant, and VXR is the top-line variant. Before, locally assembled, we were getting the imported variant.
Let’s do a quick comparison of local and imported Every in this blog.
Suzuki Every Japanese Version
Price: The top-line 2018-19 Japanese Every (JOIN variant) is available in the Pakistani market for 28-30 lacs. But note that it will be major accidental (total loss) models, refurbished before being sold in Pakistan.
We can’t commit to the built quality and ride quality of the local Every against the imported one, as we’ve not taken a solid test drive of the Pak Suzuki Every. What we can do is compare and give unbiased opinions based on the brochure and Pakistan’s market trends.
First of all, let’s take a look at the JDM version. The Japanese Suzuki Every lists the following variants:
These variants are available with different transmission and transmission combinations:
- 5-speed Manual Transmission (5MT)
- 5-speed Automated Manual Transmission (5AGS)
- 4-speed Automatic Transmission (4AT)
JOIN is the top variant in the Japanese Every’s lineup.
Here are all the main highlighted specs of Suzuki Every JOIN (top-line Japanese version):
Safety specs of JDM Every (top-variant) that aren’t available in local Suzuki Every VXR:
- Suzuki Safety Support
- Lane departure warning
- Brake assist
- Hill hold assist
- Rear parking assist
- Front SONAR sensors
- Front collision alert
- Heated door mirrors
- Auto high beam assist
- Rear camera
- Lane departure alert
Interior specs of JDM Every (top-variant) that aren’t available in local Suzuki Every VXR:
- Rear power windows
- RPM meter
- Retractable side mirrors
- UV protected windscreen
- USB Type-C charging
- Instrument cluster in the meter
- Vinyl leather seats
- Rear center armrest with headrests
- 7” infotainment
Engine and performance differences of local and JDM Every:
The local Every outputs 43 HP while the imported one outputs 48 HP of power, that’s the addition of 5 HP in Japanese variant.
Similarly, the local one outputs 58 Nm of torque while the imported one outputs 60 Nm of torque, that’s the addition of 2 Nm in the Japanese variant.
The local Every uses the R06A 660cc engine, which is the same engine that is being used in the local Alto. The imported one uses an R06A2 engine, which is the same as the R06A but tuned for a turbocharger add-on.
Suzuki Every Locally Assembled
The locally assembled needs no introduction. It is a light version of the Japanese variant in which you don’t get any fancy or even some necessary features. It’s just a simple micro-van with a 660cc engine and some safety features, including Airbags, ABS, and EBD. The base VX variant doesn’t even come with an MP3 player and AC.
Both variants are 5-speed manual and have two Airbags, ABS + EBD, and an immobilizer as standard.
All the features you read above don’t exist on the local Every (VX and VXR).
Here are some highlights of the locally assembled Every:
- 660cc R06A engine
- MP3 player (not included in VX)
- AC (not included in VX)
- Rear wiper (not included in VX)
- Rear seats with no armrest and no headrest. To be honest, they look really cheap compared to what the JDM version offers.
- Keyless entry (not included in VX variant)
- Power steering and power windows in front
Conclusion
We’ve included both JDM and local models of Every and explained their main differences. It’s your choice now.
You can either buy an accidental 2018-19 model and buy the JDM Every with a hell lot of features that even Corolla X doesn’t offer or you can go for the peace of mind and buy a brand new locally assembled Suzuki Every VXR which misses a lot of features. Your choice!
