According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s latest supply chain survey, Apple is anticipating a decrease in iPhone shipments for 2024. In response, Apple has reduced its orders for semiconductor components from suppliers by as much as 15%. Kuo predicts a 10-15% drop in iPhone 15 and upcoming iPhone 16 series shipments compared to 2023.
Additionally, Apple is experiencing declining sales in China, with weekly shipments decreasing by 30-40% annually. Kuo highlights foldable phones and generative AI features as important factors for high-end users in China, both of which Apple currently lacks. Looking forward, Kuo believes that Apple will not introduce major design changes or generative AI features to its iPhones until 2025, further impacting its shipment momentum.
