Exciting news for students in Punjab! Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved a new bike scheme initiative that will soon bring electric bikes to the province. The goal is to provide easier transportation options for students.

During a recent meeting in Lahore, the provincial government discussed plans to distribute over 20,000 electric and petrol motorbikes, especially targeting students, through interest-free loans. The meeting even had former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in attendance, highlighting the importance of the initiative.

The main focus of the discussion was on improving transportation for students, including the introduction of hybrid bus services alongside electric bikes.

Details of Installment Plan

Total Bikes: The government aims to distribute 20,000 bikes, with 1,000 being electric and 19,000 petrol. Students will not have to pay interest on their monthly installments.

Installment Plan: The Punjab government is collaborating with the Bank of Punjab (BOP) for bike distribution. Monthly installments for electric bikes will be Rs. 10,000, while for petrol bikes, it will be Rs. 5,000.

Delivery: A fair draw will be held in May to ensure transparency in the distribution process.

Quota: Equal opportunity is ensured through set quotas. In urban areas, bikes will be divided evenly between male and female students. Rural areas will have 70% of the quota for male students and 30% for female students.

This initiative by the Punjab government, under the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), aims to provide students with easier and more affordable transportation options. With electric bikes soon hitting the roads, students can expect a smoother ride to their educational institutions.
