Yesterday we received word that the upcoming Google Pixel Fold 2 might not use the Tensor G3 chipset found in the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Instead, it could launch with the Tensor G4 in the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro, alongside those devices in October. This means it won’t debut in May like the original Pixel Fold.

Today, a leaked image of what appears to be a Pixel Fold 2 prototype has surfaced from the same source as yesterday’s report. You can see it below.

Google Pixel Fold 2 hands-on image leaks

The Pixel Fold 2 prototype has two noticeable differences. Firstly, the camera bump has a new shape distinct from the original Pixel Fold’s visor-like design. Additionally, the cover screen is longer and narrower, addressing the issues caused by the predecessor’s wide form factor.

Although the inner screen isn’t visible, the source of the image claims it has a hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera in the top right, in contrast to the OG Pixel Fold which has it in the bezel. The Pixel Fold 2 is reportedly thin, but with a noticeable display crease.

It’s important to remember that this leaked image is just one piece of information, so it’s best to approach with caution. With the potential October release, there’s plenty of time to learn more about the Pixel Fold 2 in the coming months.
