Samsung Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ have recently been revealed by the South Korean company, and they are equipped with their own Exynos 2400 SoC in certain markets. However, a leak has surfaced about the upcoming Exynos 2500 chipset, which is expected to be incorporated in the Galaxy S25 series a year from now.

It is reported that the CPU will retain the 10-core setup of the Exynos 2400, but the 2500 will utilize ARM’s upcoming CPU cores. It will be manufactured using Samsung’s second-generation 3nm process (3nm GAP/SF3), which is said to be superior to TSMC’s current 3nm process in terms of area and efficiency.

Exynos 2500 specs leak

It is rumored that the Exynos 2500’s CPU will feature a Cortex-X5 core running at 3.2 GHz or higher, three Cortex-A730 cores with clock speeds of 2.3 GHz to 2.5 GHz, two additional Cortex-A730 cores, and four power-efficient Cortex-A520 cores.

Speculation suggests that the Cortex-X5 CPU core could outperform Apple’s latest custom CPU core in terms of performance. This makes the Exynos 2500 an intriguing chip in terms of performance, although its efficiency is yet to be determined. Nonetheless, there is still ample time for more leaks to provide additional information on this.

As for the GPU, the Exynos 2500 is anticipated to feature AMD’s RDNA-based Xclipse 950, an advancement from the Xclipse 940 in the Exynos 2400 – which already outperforms the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in raytracing. With the Exynos 2400 demonstrating comparable performance to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in benchmarks, the improvements in the 2500 could potentially position the Exynos on par with Snapdragon once again, after a long period of lagging behind.
