In an effort to improve the ease and convenience of travel on motorways, the National Highway Authority (NHA) and Motorway Police have mandated M-Tag registration for all vehicles. Starting from February 5th, 2024, this initiative is aimed at streamlining the entry and exit processes, resulting in a smoother and more efficient flow of traffic.
Prior to this, the use of M-Tag was encouraged but not compulsory. However, to further enhance traffic management, all vehicles are now required to have this electronic toll collection system. But don’t worry, the process is straightforward!
Here’s what you need to do:
- Get your M-Tag: Visit a customer care center with your vehicle registration and ID card for verification.
- Stay charged: Top up your M-Tag account conveniently at designated toll plazas.
- Avoid penalties: Ensure your M-Tag is registered before using the motorways to avoid fines.
Advantages of M-Tag:
- Quicker commutes: No more stopping at toll booths, just seamless electronic toll collection.
- Reduced congestion: Faster entry and exit points mean less traffic build-up.
- Convenience: Top up your account on the go, ensuring a smooth journey.
