The Lahore Traffic Police is working hard to ensure safety on the city’s roads, but a large number of citizens are still being caught for breaking traffic laws.
According to a tweet from the Lahore Traffic Police, over 500,000 people were caught breaking the law in the capital city in the first month of 2024. Surprisingly, motorcyclists are the leading offenders when it comes to traffic violations. Despite increased awareness and strict traffic regulations, motorcycles continue to be a major source of traffic infractions.

During January, 28,000 motorcyclists were ticketed for riding without helmets. The importance of wearing helmets for rider safety cannot be emphasized enough, yet many riders continue to ignore this vital safety measure.
Efforts are being made by the authorities to address this issue and stress the importance of protective gear for all riders on the road.
In addition, strict actions were taken against underage drivers, resulting in fines for 843 vehicles, including motorcycles and rickshaws. Curbing underage driving is crucial for the overall safety of road users.
The current provincial interim government is also introducing digital initiatives to streamline the process of obtaining a driving license, including online driving test facilities, online registration, and renewal.
Lahore Introduces Online Driving Test Facility
The e-Khidmat Markaz at Arfa Software Technology Park (ASTP) has implemented the online driving test service as part of the ongoing digitalization of administrative processes in the capital city.
In collaboration with the Punjab Traffic Police and the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), the goal is to improve the efficiency of driving licenses across the province.
The introduction of the driving test service at the e-Khidmat Centre ASTP is the first step in a broader strategy to expand this service to all e-Khidmat Marakiz across the province.
A key meeting session laid the foundation for the seamless integration of the online driving test service into the existing framework.
