The MWC 2024 Awards were revealed on Thursday. Notably, the Best Smartphone Award went to the Google Pixel 8 series, while the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra received recognition as the Best Connected Consumer Device. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 was honored for Breakthrough Device Innovation, and the Best in Show award was given to the Honor Magic V2 RSR.

HMD
The fate of HMD’s branding deal with Nokia remains uncertain, but the Finnish company is gearing up to launch phones under its own brand. The first phone teased, the HMD Phone 1, boasts a promising 108MP camera and indicates a departure from existing Nokia-branded models. Further details are eagerly awaited.

Additionally, while HMD may have parted ways with the Nokia brand, it has secured a partnership with a major brand in a different domain – the company is developing a Barbie flip phone. Although these devices didn’t debut at MWC, they garnered attention at the event and wielded significant influence. Honor announced the global rollout of the Honor Magic6 Pro and the Honor Pad 9, along with European pricing.

On the practical front, Infinix unveiled CoolMax, a revolutionary technology that combines thermo-electric cooling with a fan in a prototype phone. Motorola
The Motorola Adaptive Display Concept wowed attendees with its innovative design – a foldable phone that transforms into a bracelet, unlike traditional flat-folding concepts. This cutting-edge device is poised to revolutionize the smartphone landscape.

Moreover, Motorola announced a collaboration with Corning to incorporate Gorilla Glass in entry-level smartphones, expanding its use beyond flagships and mid-range models.

Although absent from MWC, Nothing made waves by unveiling a giant model of the upcoming Nothing Phone (2a) in London, teasing tech enthusiasts with a glimpse of what’s to come.

nubia introduced the Flip 5G, positioned as one of the most affordable flip foldables on the market, with an MSRP of $600. Alongside, the company launched several use-case specific devices. The nubia Focus and Focus Pro feature 108MP main cameras capable of shooting at various focal lengths, while the nubia Neo 2 caters to budget gamers with an enhanced chipset, an impressive display, and other features.
