Recently, the initial conceptual renders of the Galaxy Z Fold6 were shared online, and now it’s time for the unveiling of the Galaxy Z Flip6 design. If you thought the Fold appeared too much like its predecessor, just wait until you see the Flip.

Last year brought significant enhancements to Samsung’s flip phone design, with a larger external display and improved hinge. It appears that the focus over the past year has been on refining the existing design rather than making major changes.

The Z Flip6 is rumored to measure 165.0 x 71.7 x 7.4mm when unfolded, compared to the Z Flip5’s dimensions of 165.1 x 71.9 x 6.9mm. Given that Samsung has already achieved a sleek closing design, it is speculated that the added thickness may accommodate a larger battery – with reports suggesting it could be 4,000mAh (+300mAh compared to last year).

The increased thickness could potentially contribute to reducing the crease by providing more space for the flexible hinge, thereby decreasing stress on the display when folded. This improvement could be part of the features marketed under the Ironflex name.

Regarding the internal display, it appears that it will remain the same size at 6.7” diagonally. The external display is also expected to stay at 3.4” with a dual camera setup encroaching on its area (although there were some rumors about the external display potentially expanding to 3.9”, this isn’t happening with the current design and dimensions).

The primary camera is anticipated to include a 50MP sensor, a significant upgrade from the 12MP sensor seen in previous Flip models. There is no mention of changes to the ultra-wide module, and a telephoto lens is yet to be confirmed (though the main camera now offers in-sensor zoom capabilities).

Lastly, a mention of the color options. The video showcases the Z Flip6 in Lavender, while the static images display the Mint color. Both options are similar but slightly different from the counterparts on the Z Flip5.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 and Z Fold6 are expected to be unveiled in August as usual. This year may introduce two models in each lineup – a premium Z6 Fold Ultra and a more affordable Z Flip6 FE.
