Last year in October, Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC at the Snapdragon Summit held in Hawaii. Now, it has been announced that this year’s Snapdragon Summit, also taking place in October, will introduce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 from the chipmaker.
This update was shared by Qualcomm CMO Don McGuire in a video posted on X during the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC). McGuire disclosed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will utilize the Oryon CPU. You can watch the brief video below.
Prior to the reveal of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, Qualcomm is anticipated to launch another chip in the Snapdragon 8 Gen series. Known by the model designation SM8635, this chip is rumored to feature a single Cortex-X4 core running at 2.9GHz, along with the Adreno 735 GPU handling graphic-intensive tasks.
Reportedly built on TSMC’s 4nm node, this chip is rumored to have an AnTuTu score of approximately 1.7 million. It is expected to fit between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Gen 3 and might be named the Snapdragon 8s Gen 2 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Lite.
