The Samsung Galaxy S24 series is equipped with a feature known as Instant Slow-Mo, which utilizes AI to transform a regular video into a slow-motion clip, eliminating the need to record in native Slow-Mo mode. A Samsung Community moderator has disclosed that Instant Slow-Mo will also be available on older Samsung devices.

Samsung will introduce Instant Slow-Mo to eight devices, including the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold5, Galaxy Z Flip5, Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9+, and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra. Essentially, devices powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or newer chips will receive the Instant Slow-Mo feature, as it requires a powerful GPU and NPU to function at a speed of 16.6ms for 60FPS videos.

The new video editor from Samsung that supports adding the Instant Slow-Mo effects will also be available on the mentioned devices. In addition, the moderator announced that Samsung will enhance Instant Slow-Mo support by adding compatibility for 10-bit videos, 480p videos, and .mov file format.

The moderator did not specify a timeframe for the arrival of Instant Slow-Mo on the older devices, but it is expected to be included in the One UI 6.1 update for these phones and tablets.
