Yesterday, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S24 phones, which come with One UI 6.1 pre-installed. The new interface allows users to display their home screen wallpaper on the lock screen when the Always-On Display feature is activated.
Insiders speaking to SamMobile revealed that this feature will only be available on the S24 series for the time being. Older Galaxy devices have less efficient displays, and enabling this feature would have a significant impact on battery life.
Always On Display has never been particularly battery-friendly. However, Samsung claims that the panels on the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra are more power-efficient, making the impact on battery life acceptable.
This new feature removes the background of the image on the home screen, leaving only the foreground object on the lock screen. This allows users to have their favorite person or character displayed at all times.
