On one side, you’ve got a petrol scooter, it’s modern, comfortable to ride, and gets a lot of high-tech standard goodies. On the other hand, we’ve got a CG125, an all-rounder motorcycle that has been ruling Pakistani roads since the 1980s. For petrol scooters, we refer to the United States 100cc Scooter and New Asia Ramza 100cc.
Now, both rides are good, but for different people. You can’t recommend a scooter to a young Punjabi boy, nor would you recommend a CG to a college girl; both have different markets.
Comfort Level
Winner: of course, a petrol scooter
Petrol scooters like United and Ramza are some of the most comfortable two-wheelers on the market. The sitting posture of the scooter is like you’re sitting on the sofa. They use soft cushion seats, and due to the 100cc OHC engine placed under the seat, it got minimal to no vibrations at all.
CG, on the other hand, is the definition of a patha seat. Although its seat is made of foam, it’s hard as a rock. Moreover, vibrations are like sitting on a generator. From your feet to your kidneys, your whole lower body will vibrate like a phone.
If you only want comfort, you must go with a petrol scooter and don’t even look at the CG125.
Tech and Ease of Use
Winner: of course, a petrol scooter
The scooter comes with a CVT transmission, so you don’t have to worry about gear shifting and combination stuff. Just start the engine and pull the throttle—it’s that easy. This also makes it easy for people who are specially-abled or those who can’t make gear combinations on the motorcycle.
CG on the other hand, is not that easy to ride if you don’t know the gear and clutch combination. There’s a clutch that must be released at the ideal time; release it before, and the bike will stall or release it later, and the bike will give you a strong jerk.
Maintenance Cost
Winner: of course, CG125
CG is easier to maintain, and economy-wise, it also throws the scooter out from the water. You’ll find its mechanics literally on every roadside. Anything happens, it’s not an issue to get it repaired no matter in which city you’re. The maintenance is also very easy. Just change the oil, clean the filter, and you’re done.
On the other hand, a petrol scooter isn’t easy to maintain. First of all, you’ll not find mechanics who can work on it, and even if you find them, they’ll not be experienced because Pakistan hasn’t got many scooters on which mechanics can get their hands dirty.
Economy
Winner: CG125
Now, you might be thinking that the scooter, being a 100cc, it will provide better economy than CG. But it’s not what you think. CG has got a good economy, scooter isn’t that efficient in fuel economy compared to a motorcycle. There are the reasons:
- Scooters usually contain 8-10 inch tires, and motorcycles have 19-22 inch tires.
- Scooters have a front panel, which creates air resistance.
- Scooters usually weigh more than motorcycles. For example, CG’s dry weight is 98 kg, and scooters usually weigh 110-115 kg.
Conclusion
For office people, a petrol scooter like the United 100cc or New Asia Ramza 100cc is ideal if you prioritize comfort and ease of use.
However, if you value lower maintenance costs, better fuel economy, and a machine that works without fuss, CG is the choice to make.
