The crackdown on individuals without valid driving licenses in Punjab has been extended by the government for several weeks. This action comes after a tragic accident in which a teenager crashed his vehicle into a family car, resulting in the loss of six lives from the same family.

In response to the accident, the provincial administration has implemented a strict clampdown on teenage drivers. Punjab’s caretaker chief minister has announced that underage drivers and those without valid licenses will be subject to legal action.

Additionally, the provincial government recently announced an increase in annual license fees, although this decision has not yet been implemented.

Lahore Traffic Police recently tweeted about a new fee structure for driving licenses in Punjab. According to the tweet, the fee for learner driving has been raised to Rs. 500, and an annual regular driving license will cost Rs. 980.

Citizens who fail to obtain a valid license will face consequences, including spending time in a police station.

Online Registration

To simplify the licensing process and accommodate the increasing number of applicants, the traffic police in Punjab has launched an online service. Citizens can now apply for learner’s licenses using the Punjab Police app or at any of the 737 police stations and Khidmat Marakiz throughout the province.

Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi introduced this online facility, making it convenient for citizens to obtain their learner’s licenses through an online platform.

Renew Driving License Online

People have the option to renew their licenses online for periods of one, three, five, and ten years. Additionally, international driving licenses will remain valid for three years. The announcement also mentioned that e-licenses can be easily downloaded, eliminating the need for physical driving tests for these candidates.
