The Punjab Safe City Authority has made a significant stride in enhancing road safety by introducing advanced artificial intelligence software.
This revolutionary development is designed to identify motorcyclists who break safety rules by not wearing helmets. The announcement, posted on the authority’s social media platforms, demonstrates a commitment to using technology for the benefit of the public.
Previously, the interim government in Punjab had raised fines for helmetless motorcyclists from Rs. 200 to Rs. 2,000 province-wide. This was part of a comprehensive strategy to promote responsible driving and protect citizens on the roads.
Recently, Chief Traffic Officer Ammara Athar gave orders to intensify enforcement of traffic violations in the provincial capital. This proactive approach is evident in statistics shared by the traffic police department spokesperson, showing that over 16,000 motorcyclists received tickets for helmet violations.
