Honda is widely trusted in Pakistan for its two-wheelers, with the CD70 being the most popular brand. Many people have made modifications to this bike model to enhance its sporty appearance and performance. In this blog, we will explore a unique review in which a newer bike is transformed into a vintage model to improve its performance and visual appeal. Let’s take a look at the modification steps taken by the owner, Taha.
Make, Model, and Variant
This particular bike was a 2002 Honda CD70 that was purchased in 2005 and later modified into the iconic classic CD70 model, the Pointer 1988. The initial cost of purchase was Rs. 40,000, but a similar bike in scrap condition could be found for around Rs. 24,000.
Modifications
The engine of the bike remained in its original condition, but the performance was enhanced by replacing the carburetor with one from a Honda 125 model. Other modifications included changing the indicators, exhaust pipe, headlights, mudguards, and taillights with genuine Honda spare parts purchased from Karachi. The entire bike also underwent a paint job for a more attractive appearance, while the tires remained the same as the CD70 model.
Maintenance and Fuel Average
As an older bike, it requires tuning and oil changes every other month, costing around Rs. 1200. However, it provides a decent fuel average of 45 km/L, offering a comfortable ride and satisfactory performance.
Price Tag
The current value of this project bike is Rs. 100,000, which includes Rs. 30,000 for aftermarket parts and all the modification work.
