Preparations are underway in Islamabad for the upcoming 23rd March parade, with the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) implementing temporary but strict measures to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety in the city.

According to media reports, one of the main strategies being used is the temporary restriction on heavy vehicles entering the federal capital on specific dates.

Event Schedule

The spokesperson for the Islamabad Traffic Police has announced that heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter the capital on March 17, 19, 21, and 23 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 AM. This proactive step aims to reduce traffic congestion and enhance safety leading up to the parade.

In addition to the heavy vehicle ban, alternative routes have been identified to redirect traffic, especially from Lahore. Vehicles coming from Lahore will now be directed to take Rawalpindi Sadar Road towards Peshawar GT Road and the Motorway, making their journey smoother and easing congestion on main roads.

Detour Options

For traffic coming from Koral Chowk and Rawalpindi, alternative routes via Khanna Bridge, Lehtrar Road, and Park Road have been established to provide easier access into Islamabad.

The Motorway Police has also introduced an alternative route for smaller vehicles, allowing traffic to turn from Kashmir Chowk towards Barakahu and Murree, giving commuters more options.

Additionally, Faizabad will be closed to all vehicles as part of the traffic management plan. Citizens are encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement officers and follow the guidelines provided to ensure the effectiveness of these traffic management measures.
