In a remarkable event, Chief of Naval Staff Golf Championship Muhammad Qasim, a professional golfer and caddy, achieved a stunning victory by winning a Toyota Fortuner GR car valued at Rs. 2 Crore PKR invoice price. Qasim’s extraordinary feat was accomplished with a ‘hole in one’ on the third hole of the Karachi Golf Club’s Red Course. If you don’t know, this event is basically a competition in which a golfer has to put the ball in the hole in a single shot.
The event was sponsored by Toyota Indus Motors and the Fortuner he got was also gifted to him by Indus Motors.
Qasim humbly admitted that he didn’t expect to win the competition, especially after suffering from heat stroke during the event. He shared with the BBC that his golfing skills were self-taught by observing other players rather than through any formal training or paid courses.
He humorously remarked, “I arrived here with nothing and left with a car worth crores, but I don’t know how to drive it as I only ride a motorcycle.” We saw his ride; he rides a very old CD70, which is in such poor condition that it is practically scrap. He further shared his practical plans, noting, “While winning the car is a dream, I can’t afford the fuel, so I intend to sell it and use the proceeds to improve my family’s financial situation.” He plans to buy a house and provide a good education to his children.
