For the last couple of years, Pakistan’s local industry has been facing stages of ebbs and flows. The episode commenced with closed LCs, import restrictions, low sales, not enough inventory, disrupted supply chain, etc., thanks to the historic economic meltdown.

The sales chart remained down for more than a year, but local car makers were hopeful for good days, and they came. The Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) reported several jumps in car sales. However, BIG 3 (Pak Suzuki, Toyota Indus Motors, Honda Atlas) sales observed a hefty blow.

BIG 3 Sales

According to the PAMA report:

  • Toyota Pakistan’s sales decreased significantly by 44%, selling 1,664 units last month compared to 2,957 vehicles in June 2024.
  • Meanwhile, Honda Atlas sales narrate the same story, dropping by 15%, selling 931 units last month compared to 1,095 units in June 2024.
  • Likewise, Pak Suzuki Motors Company (PSMC) sales reduced by 35%, selling 4,470 vehicles in July 2024 against 6,885 cars in June’24.

Car-Wise Sales Breakdown

  • PSMC (Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company) sold 2,869 units of Alto, 96 units of Suzuki Cultus, 139 units of Suzuki Wagon R, 502 units of Suzuki Swift, 288 units of Suzuki Bolan, and 576 units of Suzuki Ravi.
  • Toyota Indus sold 1,106 units of Corolla, Yaris, and Corolla and 558 units of Fortuner and Hilux.
  • Honda Atlas sold 790 units of City and Civic, and 141 units of BR-V.
  • Meanwhile, Hyundai Nishat sales observed a remarkable down of 50%, selling 529 units last month compared to 1059 units in June 2024.

The report also informed that in this July sales slashed by 36%, selling 8,589 vehicles in July 2024 compared to 13,284 vehicles in June’24. Coming to year-on-year (YoY) sales reported a growth of 60%. Local car manufacturers managed to sell 8,589 cars last month compared to only 5,377 vehicles sold during the same period last year.
