Today, Chinese EV brand, BYD, launching in Pakistan today, August 17th, 2024. Here’s a quick overview of this brand, its models, and their salient features.

BYD – What is it?

BYD, short for Build Your Dreams, is a Chinese EV brand that is globally the  #1 EV car manufacturer, sales and production-wise. This brand doesn’t just produce EV vehicles; it is a conglomerate that makes EV buses, smartphone batteries, 18650 Li-ion cells, semiconductors, forklifts, and even electric rails for the city metro. Now, they’re landing in Pakistan tomorrow as an EV automotive brand. As per reports, BYD will introduce three models at the start.

Future of Auto Market After BYD Launch

From our perspective, the launch of BYD in the Pakistani market is an EV revolution. Although many other brands are offering all-electric vehicles, e.g., MG, ORA, GUGO, and Honri, these are just small potatoes in the international EV market that was taking advantage of the Pakistani market due to the absence of a leading international EV brand. But, after BYD, which is currently the #1 global EV car maker, the market will probably change.

It will surely shake these tadpole EV brands; see the graph below:

BYD has claimed the coveted #1 spot in the global electric vehicle market, surpassing even the mighty Tesla and Volkswagen Group.

People will gradually start taking an interest in EV cars (only if BYD prices make sense) as this is the only official brand in Pakistan that is considered a serious player in the international EV market.

BYD in Pakistan

The world’s biggest NEV brand is making a landing in Pakistan today and here what our own car guru, Suneel Munj has to say about this:

Meanwhile, we got hold of some of the spy shots of the car expected to be launched today in Pakistan, and we think it would be a good edition in the EV segment of the local market.

We will keep you updated about the launch, so stay tuned to PakWheels Blog.
