With stretching its boundaries in the realm of hybrid technology, the global automakers have minimized the mileage effect while shattering fuel consumption to a historic low. The Chinese EV giant BYD, after gaining the grounds in EV segment, has also intensified the competition in hybrid league.
BYD has officially unveiled the fifth-generation hybrid sedans “Qin L” and “Seal 06” powered with the next generation hybrid technology achieving the considerably low fuel average.
It is related to mention that BYD produced these cars under the banner of manufacturing the perfect models in terms of performance and fuel efficiency.
Dimension
Starting with the dimensions, Qin L is 4830 mm long, 1900 mm wide, and 1495 mm in conjunction with a wheelbase of 2790 mm. Comparing Qin L with Seal 06, the latter lags in width.
Dragon Face Aesthetics – The Exterior
Highlighting the front fascia, the Qin L boasts BYD’s “wave dragon face aesthetics,” characterized by a bold Qin character at the front, highlighted by a chrome bar and a substantial grille. The exterior design also includes conventional door handles. Coming to the rear profile, the rear light cluster spans the width of the car’s rear, adding a unique touch.
Pouring Cultural Richness – The Interior
Stepping inside the Qin L, the interior, drawing inspiration from national taste and pouring cultural richness into it, welcomes the passenger. The cabin boasts a more streamlined layout compared to the Seal 06, featuring physical buttons around the gear selector.
It also includes a rotating 15.6-inch central infotainment screen and an 8.8-inch LCD instrument screen, ensuring both functionality and aesthetic appeal.
Intensifying the Competition – The Power
The hybrid system in the Qin L is equipped with a 1.5-liter engine, producing the maximum power output of 100 hp and 126 Nm of torque. Lower-spec versions come with a 10.08 kWh battery, offering an all-electric range of 80 km (CLTC) and featuring a 160 hp electric motor that produces 210 Nm of torque.
Higher-spec models are equipped with a 15.874 kWh battery, providing a 120 km CLTC range, and a more powerful 214 hp EHS160 motor with 260 Nm of torque. These vehicles can achieve a combined range of up to 2,100 km (CLTC).

The Qin L DM-I is priced between 99,800 and 139,800 yuan, which is roughly equivalent to Rs. 3.8 million to Rs. 5.38 million.
