We previously wrote a blog post on cars that failed in Pakistan. People commented on that post and came up with many other vehicles that failed in Pakistan. In part 2, we’ll mention the flop cars you mentioned and have gathered some others from the forums.

Suzuki Vitara

Suzuki Vitara: A bit dated, inside and out | The Independent

Suzuki Vitara had no quality or build issues, and unlike Ciaz, it was the same variant being sold in Thailand. However, the competition and Big2’s monopoly caused the Vitara to leave Pakistan.

Launched in mid-2016, in competition with Honda BR-V and Corolla Grande 1.8. The problem with Suzuki was that this brand was associated with small and low-budget hatchbacks like Mehran and Cultus, and no one was expecting a crossover from this brand.

Just due to brand image, the car failed in the market and couldn’t become a hit. You can still buy this car for 4.8 million PKR, and it’ll be the cheapest Crossover money can get you in Pakistan. Still, if anyone has a 4.8 million budget for a used car, they’ll surely either go with Corolla or any JDM like Vezel.

KIA Spectra

KIA Spectra 2001 of ar899451 - Member Ride 55432 | PakWheels

The KIA Spectre was launched in 2000, just before the Santro. It was a B-segment sedan, but somehow, it manages its be the part of this blog.

The reason it failed is because of the competition. In terms of the price of Spectre, people had the option of going with City and Corolla. And why would anyone choose an unknown brand’s ugly-looking car when you can get a Toyota or Honda at the same price? Yes, KIA was an unknown brand for Pakistanis in the 2000s.

Suzuki Kizashi

Suzuki Kizashi Officially Launched in Pakistan (2)

Suzuki launched the Kizashi in competition with the Toyota Camry. It was a D-segment sedan with a 2.4L engine, the same as the Camry. The company only managed to sell very few, about 20-25 units in the three years. We still don’t know why those people decided to buy a Suzuki instead of a JDM Toyota Camry for the same price, same engine, and same segment. The Kizashi was, indeed, a good car, the same as the Camry, but we know everyone will choose Toyota instead of Suzuki for the same size car option. In 2018, just after three years, Suzuki discontinued the Kizashi with a miserable flop.

KIA Sportage 1st Generation

KIA once launched the Sportage in the early 2000s. But it never became famous as the fourth generation. The main reason behind its failure was the brand’s struggle. KIA soon went bankrupt and left Pakistan. Hence, the Sportage market went 0. The car, however, was good. It was a true crossover with a 2000cc engine, but due to the brand’s bankruptcy, it became a flop.
