Today is the day of Deepal’s brand launch in Pakistan. The company has brought two models, Deepal S07 and L07. The L07 is a sedan, while the S07 is a C-segment crossover, just a bit bigger than Sportage and Tucson. Not far behind, ORA is ready to introduce its own all-electric sedan, the ORA 07, to the market. These two models, the ORA 07 and Deepal’s L07, are the most compelling contenders in their price range, category, and segment.
If you’ve finally made up your mind to purchase a high-budget brand-new EV sedan, ORA 07 and L07 are the two best choices you’ve got in the market. Here we are with our POV on both cars and a 1-1 comparison table to make your buying decision easier.
P.S: Here’s the price of L07 and S07, latest update:
Deepal L07 – What is it?
Deepal calls itself the oldest EV brand in China. However, its footprints aren’t limited to China; this brand operates in Thailand and Nepal as well. And now, it has landed in Pakistan. In our country, Master Motors is the group behind Deepal, and it’s the same group that also owns Changan in Pakistan.
L07 is Deepal’s mid-size sedan, but with a 2.9-meter wheelbase, it is almost at the executive level. Its exterior is sharp, fierce, and cynical to petrolheads. The car is practical, with many storage compartments, generous cabin space, and a good-sized trunk, and it’s comfortable, no doubt about it.
Look closely at the paint, and it’s the same paint job that you get from a high-budget JDM or a German car. The interior’s design language is Tesla copy/paste but with additional storage compartments and ambient lighting. The built quality is solid, and there is nothing to criticize. Sitting inside, it looks like you’ve been wrapped in a cocoon of luxury.
The majority of controls are operated from the main infotainment display, which is a 14.3″, 4k display (probably). It’s smooth, doesn’t jitter and UI is well-optimised, Netflix on this display would look great although!
P.S: The central brain of L07’s ECU is Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155, a next-generation automotive cockpit platform that can handle Level 3 autopilot and 3x4k displays.
ORA 07 – What is it?
ORA is a daughter brand of Great Wall Motors, one of China’s biggest auto manufacturers. In Pakistan, it’s owned by Sazagar Engineering Works, the same group that also owns Haval and Tank. Unlike Deepal, ORA is already operational in Pakistan, and their 03 (compact hatchback) EV is currently available for purchase. Now, the company is about to land its second model in Pakistan, the new four-door EV sedan, 07. Currently, Sazgar has imported this car for testing purposes, and they are planning to launch this model for public purchase soon.
The car itself has been inspired by many cars. The spoiler is a Porsche 911 Turbo S copy/paste, the 2015 Porsche Panamera heavily inspires the driver’s sitting area, and the center console is almost copied from Bugatti Chiron. However, besides that, the car’s built quality is solid and looks very premium, just like any German and high-budget JDM.
The interior uses a dual-tone soft leather dashboard, and other parts like seats and door handles also use the same leather. You’ll notice a nice matt-silver metal finish on the center console, steering, speed-o-meter, and across the dashboard line above the AC grills.
The first thought after sitting inside it is; Premium and comfortable, better than low-budget German cars.
Note: ORA 07 also has a lower variant, which is FWD, but officials told us that the AWD variant will launch in Pakistan, so we’ve chosen to compare it only with the AWD variant.
