In the mid of this month, the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) report arrived and disclosed all the details highlighting what the local car makers earned last month in terms of sales. After discussing PSMC’s Swift and Toyota’s Hilux and Fortuner sales performance, we have come up with another update that mirrors Honda’s sales.

As per the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) report, Honda Atlas year-on-year (YoY) sales has been increased by 385%, selling 1,003 units in April’24 against 207 in the corresponding period of last year. The automaker sold 956 units of City and Civicand 47 units of BR-V/HRV.

Coming to month-on-month (MoM) sales, the company’s sales has been slashed by considerable 54% last month, selling 1,003 units against 2,188 in March.

Months before, Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) was the car maker facing the bad highlighting low sales and a series of production shutdown. Weeks later, Honda Atlas, the old market player is grappling with the same situation as for MoM sales.

Last year, the local car makers witnessed endless hurdles in production, sales and profit and the reason was purely economic. Rupee devaluation and depleting foreign reserves leading to import restrictions in conjunction with closed letter of credits (LCs) were listed as the basic factors.

PAMA Report

According to the report, month-on-month (MoM) car sales has increased by 12% last month, selling 10,515 in April 2024 compared to 9,381 vehicles in March 2024.

However, in a year-on-year (YoY) analysis, there’s been a staggering increase of 135%, thanks to the stability in Pakistani Rupee against mighty US dollar. Car manufacturers managed to sell 10,515 cars compared to 4,483 vehicles during the same period last year.

Similarly, motorbike and three-wheeler sales saw an impressive 15% increase last month, reaching 107,590 units compared to 93,606 units in March 2024. Atlas Honda sales surged by 19%, reaching 95,069 units last month, up from 80,139 units in March 2024.

Meanwhile, Pak Suzuki experienced a 5% increase, selling 1,684 units last month compared to 1,610 units in March 2024.
