Get ready to see even more Range Rovers on Indian roads! Tata Motors’ British arm, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), is now gearing up to assemble the iconic Range Rover and Range Rover Sport SUVs right in India. This is a big first for these luxury vehicles, as they’ve only ever been built in the UK for the past 54 years!

This move means good news for Indian Range Rover fans. They can expect shorter waiting times their dream SUV. Plus, thanks to lower taxes, the price tag is set to drop by a whopping 18-22%, which could save them up to INR 56 lac! Currently, Range Rovers range from INR 67.90 lac for the Evoque to a cool  INR 2.36 crore for the New Range Rover.

Local Production in Pune

JLR already assembles other popular models in India, like the Range Rover Velar, Evoque, Jaguar F-PACE, and Discovery Sport, all at their Pune facility. However, the powerful Defender SUV and the upcoming electric Range Rover will still be imported from the UK, along with the special high-performance “SV” Range Rovers.

This decision shows JLR’s commitment to the Indian market, which is a growing giant in the luxury car world. Right now, German brands like Mercedes, BMW, and Audi rule the roost. But with this local production boost, JLR hopes to grab a bigger slice of the pie.

Last year, luxury carmakers sold over 45,000 units in India, with Mercedes leading the pack at over 18,000. JLR India, on the other hand, hit a 5-year high with 4,436 units sold.

So, buckle up, Indian Range Rover fans! The future of luxury SUVs looks bright, with more Range Rovers roaring onto the streets and becoming a little more accessible, thanks to local production.
