Just today, Dewan Farooque Motors Limited announced the launch of the brand-new Kia Shehzore model. Yes, Kia. Previously, it was in production under the Hyundai company, but now it’s going to be manufactured under the Kia labeling.

Commercial customers who are now going to buy Kia Shehzore will have the option of either going with the Suzuki Ravi or Hyundai Porter. Ravi, being a small segment flatbed truck and cheaper than Shehzore, might not be a competitor, but Porter is. So here’s a 1-1 comparison of both trucks based on their utility, loading capacity, maintenance cost, and overall ownership cost.

Hyundai Porter and Kia Shehzore

Hyundai Porter is a single-cabin, all-purpose flatbed truck with only the essentials and no fancy stuff. The headlights are halogen, and the interior is all plastic with hydraulic steering. It’s simple, practical, and made for work purposes only. However, safety-wise, it’s a compromised vehicle with no crumple zones and no SRS airbags, so Hyundai can keep the MRP cost low.

On the other hand, we’ve got a second-generation Shehzore by the Kia. Surprisingly, it’s a double-cabin flatbed truck this time (optional, single-cabin in base variant), which means you can easily fit four full-size adult workers in it, compared to Porter with two or three workers. One noticeable thing is the headlight and interior. Both use almost identical headlights, and center grills and an instrumental cluster are nearly the same at first glance.

Moreover, both trucks also use the same 2.6L NA diesel engine that produces almost similar 79 HP torque and 164-167 Nm torque.
