Following the interim government, Punjab’s incumbent provincial management also seems inclined to make the roads safe in the city. In a recent update, Traffic Police has not only opened a new driving license center on Mall Road to serve both the business community and the general public but has also introduced electronic challans (e-challans) for different traffic violations.

New Driving License Centre

Located conveniently at the Business Facilitation Centre in Al-Falah Building, this center offers a variety of services, including issuing trader learner permits, duplicate licenses, renewals, and even international licenses.

The Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) is committed to streamlining the process. To handle the anticipated high volume of applicants, they implemented testing sessions at four different locations back in December 2023. This new center on Mall Road is part of that initiative, aiming to make obtaining a driver’s license faster and more accessible for everyone.

Don’t forget, there’s also an existing center specifically for business needs at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industries. Plus, for those who prefer the comfort of home, a 24/7 online service is available for added convenience.

E-Challans

With an aim to uplift the traffic discipline and ensure road safety, the City Traffic Police (CTP) Lahore has come up with e-challans for lane line, zebra crossing, and stop line violations. This initiative aims to deter motorists from committing these common traffic infractions, which often lead to accidents and endanger pedestrians.

Under the new system, Safe City cameras will capture images of vehicles violating traffic rules. The e-challans will then be generated and sent directly to the registered addresses of the vehicle owners. This will eliminate the need for physical traffic stops and ensure that violators are held accountable for their actions.

The CTP has urged motorists to strictly adhere to traffic rules and avoid lane line, zebra crossing, and stop line violations. These violations not only disrupt the flow of traffic but also pose a serious threat to the safety of pedestrians and other road users.
