The happy times are over. Kia Pakistan has increased the price of its subcompact crossover SUV, Kia Stonic, by Rs. 733,000, taking the price to Rs. 5,550,000 from Rs. 4,767,000. The previous ex-factory price of the vehicle was Rs. 6,280,000.

It is pertinent to mention that the company announced a huge Rs. 1,500,000 drop in the price of Stonic in April 2024, causing quite a stir in the automotive market, a shock for the people who bought it for over Rs. 6 million but not so much for the ones who purchased it in under Rs. 4 million.

Kia Stonic Booking

In a statement, Kia Pakistan announced that it received an overwhelming response from customers for the limited-time 5-year celebration. “Due to more than expected demand, we had no option but to temporarily suspend the booking as we wanted to have clarity on the stock situation,” the company said.

However, the booking of the Kia Stonic EX+ has been reopened. As per the company:

  • From July 1, 2024, all bookings will be taken from delivery in December 2024 and onwards.
  • Bookings will only be accepted with a partial payment of Rs. 2.5 million.
  • There will be a price lock for orders with partial payment for December 2024 and January 2025 delivery.
  • The price lock is subject to any devaluation of PKR against USD (2% over today’s prevailing rate), and any increase in duties, taxes, and levies imported by the Federal or Provincial governments will be paid by the customer at the time of delivery.

It will be interesting to see whether the consumers would go for the Stonic with its increased price or whether the Suzuki Swift will give it tough competition, considering its top variants still stand at Rs. 4,719,000. It would be an interesting competition to see as Stonic has become quite popular after the last price drop, forcing Suzuki Pakistan to follow suit.  If you were waiting to book Kia Stonic, this is good news for you, especially with a price lock offer.
