Dewan Farooque Motors Limited has reintroduced the KIA Shehzore with an improved design language, better payload capacity, and a robust engine. This light truck has shown its first glimpse along with the locally assembled electric hatchback Honri Ve. Kia Shehzore- Overview
Kia Shehzore was introduced in 2004 and remained in production until 2007. It was considered a hot cake in the Pakistani commercial market due to its load-carrying prowess and maneuverability. The new Shehzore has been launched in three variants: Standard Cabin, King Cabin, and Grand Cabin. The top-line variant is the Grand Cabin, which can accommodate 5 to 6 passengers and carry a load in a long flat bed.
Exterior
Shehzore has the same design language as the previous model with minimal aesthetic updates, including a tiger-nosed false grille, simplistic bumper, halogen headlamps, and a newly designed ‘KIA’ logo. This utility-based vehicle features a side mirror and a 3D view for improved driving assistance.
Engine and Pay Load Capacity
This light truck has a 2.7 Litre naturally aspirated engine, which comes with a 5 forward speed manual transmission delivering power of 79 HP and 164 Nm of torque. Knowing the fact that it has disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear, its first drive gave us an insight into its soft transmission and efficient braking.
Its load capacity is 1.5 tons which can go up to 2.5 tons at maximum. However, its drive was nimble without feeling underpowered.
Interior
Usually, automakers have focused least on the interior of commercial vehicles, but the new Shehzore focuses on passenger comfort by providing upright driving posture, seat reclining ability, better cushioning, and efficient air conditioning.
The basic design analog meter comes with a MID. Roof lining and overall cabin theme are kept grey, along with other accessories like dome lights, cup holders, and storage boxes. Some of these are integrated into the front folding middle seat. Since commercial drivers must wait long hours in queues or parking lots, speakers are also provided for entertainment.
