The monsoon season has started, which is the season for off-roading. Now, most off-roaders might be planning their trips to northern areas in KPK like Kalaam, Naran Valley, Bhulwal, or some of the Balochistan desert sides for an immense adrenaline rush.
For a good off-roading, you need a good off-roader SUV, Jeep, or pickup. Here’s our blog on some of the best 4×4 off-roaders in Pakistan, which you can take to intense off-roading terrains.
Toyota Surf 4.0L
If you have ever done off-roading or are into this cult, you may know the capabilities of Toyota Surf. The 1GR 4.0L V6 engine was explicitly designed for off-roading and rough usage.
A 4.0 liter V6, you might be thinking that it must be able to produce around 400-500 HP of power, right? But it’s not. In fact, it makes less power than a Civic Oriel 1.6L. The reason is it’s a low-stressed engine, so it can last long without breaking down; e.g., doing 500,000 Km isn’t an issue for 1GR 4.0.
The only problem with Surf is its wheelbase. Due to the long wheelbase, you must be an expert off-road driver to get it out from extremely muddy roads and uneven terrains. Otherwise, Surf is a perfect 4×4 offroader.
Toyota Land Cruiser LC200
Land Cruiser needs no introduction when it comes to offroading and reliability. Most people associate the LC200 with luxury, but it is also a perfect offroader (of course, it’s Toyota’s SUV, so it’ll be an ideal off-roader).
The LC200 uses Toyota’s iconic 4.8L V8 engine that produces 320 HP in total and 400 Nm of torque, which is good enough for offroading. It’s one of those few options that offer you a total luxury package with complete off-roading capabilities.
Toyota Revo Diesel
Revo, indeed, looks like a rough off-roader. It has a 2.7L in-line four diesel engine and hardcore suspensions, perfect for offroading and rugged terrain use. The only drawback is its leaf spring suspensions on the back. They are highly bumpy on-road drives, but for off-road, it’s the best deal. Another good thing about Revo is you get a long bed that you can utilize for multiple practical options.
Toyota Fortuner Diesel
Fortuner is an all-round 4×4 off-road locally assembled SUV. It remains controversial for its uncomfortable seats and stiff suspensions, but it’s still the best-selling SUV in the market. The reason? Toyota’s reliability. You can plan a tour to Nathia Gali or Naran, and you’ll come back. Fortuner will be good without any malfunctions or anything. Just like Revo, Fortuner uses the same 2.7L in-line four diesel engine that produces 164 – 201 HP and 245 – 500 Nm of torque.
Land Rover Defender
Land Rover advertises the Defender as an off-road vehicle. Unless you are wealthy and want to try something very different, we highly suggest that you go with a Toyota car. Toyota has a good reputation; its engines and suspensions are highly durable, and it is a better performer overall on off-road tracks.
Still, the Defender is a good off-roader if you have a budget to afford its expensive maintenance. The Defender has about 6-8 engine options, including g 2.0 L NAa, 2.0 L NA PHEVa, 3.0 L T PHEVa, 5.0 L V8 NA, and d 2.0 L Diesel.
