Even though motorcycles are considered a budget form of traveling, considering the inflation and all-time high prices of motorcycles, purchasing a new motorcycle has also become an expensive thing to afford for an average person. With average pricing going about 200k-400k PKR, you don’t want to invest in a motorcycle whose resale is either not good or not reliable for Pakistani conditions. Therefore, here are some motorcycles that you should avoid in 2024 for various reasons.
Honda Pridor
Honda Pridor is not a good deal for 90% of Pakistani consumers. First of all, its resale is not just bad; it’s worse. You might end up selling at a 20-50k loss after 1-2 years of use. Moreover, all cosmetic items are made of plastic, which is not a bad thing, but using low-quality plastic like in Pridor is a deal breaker. Its headlight visor vibrates after 50 Km/h, and the mudguard cracks too easily with a light impact.
Its parts are also expensive, even more costly than CG125. Some users even commented in our previous blog, “Why Honda Pridor Failed,” that Pridor has a serious manufacturing defect in its engine. For some reason, its clutch box and ring piston run out after a few thousand Kilometers; that’s what we’ve seen in 17 comments out of 33.
Hi-speed Infiniti 150
Infiniti 150 does look cool and is a cheap cafe racer-style motorcycle, but it’s not a practical option. Besides its looks and features, we can’t appreciate its ride quality and suspensions.
With a 400k price tag, the company doesn’t even offer a balancer shaft engine, and it produces too many vibrations.
Moreover, its self-start is not good either. It breaks down after just 5 months of use, and the paint finishing is also bad. The seat is as hard as CG125 and wiring gets short in the rainy season. It’s better to go with YBR; it’s branded and much better in quality than Inifniti 150.
Honda CD70 Dream
It’s CD70 Dream; remember not to mix it with CD70. It’s a good bike, and there’s nothing wrong with it. However, we don’t understand its purpose. It’s all the same as CD70, e.g., the same engine, suspensions, tires, chassis, and handlebars.
There are just some cosmetic changes, and Atlas dares to charge PKR 10,000 more. Another issue with it is the spare cost; the engine and other mechanical parts aren’t the issue. But, cosmetic items like fuel tank and headlights are expensive and without any third-party support. So it’s better to go with a CD70 and avoid the Dream version.
Honda CG125S Gold Edition
We’re specifically referring to CG125S Gold Edition. If you round off, this 80’s 125cc motorcycle will cost you 300k PKR (292k precisely). Now, if you think that much money for this machine justify the price, you’re either too rich, or you’ve got some extra money lying around.
We don’t understand why it’s in gold color; some people will like the golden side covers and silencer guard, but the majority of consumers, including our team, just don’t like the golden color bike. It’s not a jewelry, of course.
It’s a much better and wiser decision to either go with a regular CG125 or, if you need it for long tours, go with the regular CG125 Special Edition.
Yamaha YBR 125Z
Yamaha decides to offer a spokes-rim bike for a 424k price tag. It’s all good until you see the tires; they just don’t look good. The overall bike is the same as the YBR DX and shares the same features as other YBR variants, but the spokes-rim ruins its look.
It’s much better to spend some extra money and go with the DX option or just go with the CB125F, which looks much better than the 125Z. If you prefer comfort, then GD110S could be a better option. Otherwise, you can also go with the 6-12 months used YBR DX option.
