Earlier in previous blogs we informed you regarding the imminent launch of new Suzuki Swift, we shared the anticipated specification and features of the car. After making its debut at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show last year, the fourth-generation Swift has officially gone on sale in India.
Dimensions
The fourth-gen Swift measure 3,860 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width, and 1,500 mm in height. This makes it 15 mm longer, 30 mm taller, and 40 mm narrower compared to the outgoing model. However, the wheelbase remains the same as the outgoing model.
Engine
Mechanically, the new-gen Swift is powered by a new 1.2-litre Z series, NA petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual and AMT gearbox. This motor is said to be more fuel-efficient than the outgoing model with a power output of 80bhp and 112Nm of peak torque.
Exterior – Changes & Updates
The refreshed design of the new Swift features several updates, including a redesigned front bumper, a fresh grille, and updated headlamps equipped with LED DRLs. Additionally, the model gets blacked-out ORVMs, roof, and pillars.
Towards the rear, the hatchback gets a redesigned tailgate and a fresh bumper featuring a skid plate. Additionally, the global-spec model is adorned with an integrated spoiler housing a stop light. The LED tail lights now boast distinctive C-shaped DRLs, bringing a modern flair into the design.
Even the 15-inch wheels are new, but they carry a much more conventional design compared to the stylish-looking five U-spoke design of the predecessor.
Interior – The Enhancements
The most prominent new change comes in the form of a floating 9-inch touchscreen which is familiar to the Grand Vitara and the new Baleno, or even the Fronx. With the touchscreen changing its position, the center console on the dashboard is redesigned compared to the older model but the steering wheel and the gear lever appear to be carried over from the outgoing Swift.
What could have been a new change in the new Swift is the driver’s display which could have been all-digital throwing out more information. What you get here is a dual-circular analogue driver’s display with a small screen in the middle which is seen in other Maruti models. Debuting for the first time in the Swift is the rear AC vents which was given a miss in the previous-gen.
It also boats standard along with halogen projector headlamps and LED tail lamps. Higher up the trims it also gets an LED projector, 15-inch alloy wheels, wireless charger, auto headlamps, rear USB ports, leather-wrapped steering wheel, Arkamys sound system, and cruise control.
Mileage
In the department of fuel efficiency, the new Swift result in an impressive 14 percent increase with a mileage of 24.8 kmpl for the MT variants and 25.75 kmpl for AMT.
Colors
The 2024 Maruti Swift will be available in five variants: LXi, VXi, VXi (O), ZXi, and ZXi+. It will also get nine different paint choices, including both monotone and dual-tone options.
Safety Features
In terms of safety, the global Swift comes equipped with six airbags, tyre pressure monitoring, ABS with EBD and brake assist, electronic stability control, and hill hold control. Advanced features like lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning systems are also available.
