There are rumors that Apple may introduce a new Capture button on its iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max, as seen in leaked renders earlier this month. According to The Information, Apple is testing the Capture button across the entire iPhone 16 range, including the baseline iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, and there are details on its additional functions.

The Capture button will be a physical button located on the lower right-hand side of the new iPhone 16 devices, allowing for instant image capture and video recording. Past rumors suggest it will sit flush with the phone’s frame and feature a force touch sensor for touch and pressure controls.
New details reveal that it will offer half-press to focus and full-press to capture an image or start a video recording session. Additionally, Apple is rumored to introduce swipe gestures for zoom controls directly from the Capture button. These zoom controls will be particularly useful on the smaller iPhone 16 Pro, which is said to receive the 5x tetraprism lens.
