Samsung initiated the rollout of the One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy S23 family towards the end of March. Since receiving the update, many users have been experiencing touchscreen issues. These problems involve the touchscreen not responding accurately to touch input, requiring multiple taps to register a touch.
This issue has caused frustration among users, and Samsung has finally acknowledged the problem. Interestingly, Samsung attributes the problem to Google, specifically pointing to the Google app’s Discover feed as the culprit. This feed appears on the left of the leftmost home screen.
Samsung has stated that Google is aware of the issue and is actively working on a permanent solution. In the meantime, Samsung is offering a temporary fix for affected users: clear the Google app’s data and restart the device. This should help ensure proper touchscreen functionality.
To clear the Google app’s data, navigate to Settings > Apps > Google > Storage and select Clear data. Following this step, you may need to log back into your Google account.
Google is expected to address the issue with an update to the Google app. Users are advised to enable automatic updates in the Play Store. For those eager to resolve the problem sooner, manually update all apps in the Play Store by accessing your profile icon, selecting Manage apps and device, and clicking on the Update all button.
