It has been reported that Samsung is planning to integrate generative AI technology into its virtual assistant Bixby. A senior executive mentioned that the company is putting in significant effort to make this a reality, but there is currently no set timeline for the project.
Bixby serves as a key product for Samsung, available on TVs and digital appliances. This indicates that the Korean company is aiming to enhance its chatbot capabilities and introduce a solution that works seamlessly across different devices.
For the past seven years, Bixby has been featured in Galaxy smartphones since the launch of the Galaxy S8 series. It introduced innovative features at that time, such as real-time translations and personalized restaurant suggestions.
However, Bixby has primarily relied on users asking questions and retrieving information from the internet through simple commands. Unlike Open AI’s ChatGPT or Google Gemini, Bixby currently lacks the ability to generate new text and images in response to user inquiries.
