The Galaxy S24 Ultra by Samsung is officially shipping as of today, even though it has already become available early in some places. Now that you can purchase it from a store without pre-ordering, you may be curious about the durability of its titanium build and new Gorilla Armor.

Luckily, Zack from JerryRigEverything has created a video showcasing his traditional ‘durability test’ for the S24 Ultra, which includes scratches, burns, and the bend test. So grab some popcorn and enjoy watching it.

If you missed the video, here’s the scoop. It’s worth noting that Samsung doesn’t specify which grade of titanium is used. Apple uses grade 5, one of the most common grades, while the other is grade 2. Grade 5 titanium is pricier than grade 2, so companies using grade 5 often publicize it, while those using grade 2 usually remain quiet.

We can’t confirm if this is the case with Samsung, especially since it recently upgraded the speakers in the S24 series without prior notice. Moving on to the tests, the Gorilla Armor glass over the screen scratches at level 6 on the Mohs scale. However, unlike other glass types, there are no “deeper grooves at level 7.” Surprisingly, these deeper grooves only appear at level 8, a first in the mobile world, proving the effectiveness of the Gorilla Armor.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra passes bend test with flying colors

While the titanium is not scratch-proof, it does scratch. It’s uncertain if the buttons are titanium or an aluminum alloy. Additionally, the S Pen is disassembled to reveal its internals, and the pixels stand up to about 30 seconds of exposure to a flame before turning white and failing to recover.

Finally, the S24 Ultra passes the bend test with ease. There is slight flexing when bending from both sides, but no cracks appear at all.
