Today, Samsung announced significant advancements in its memory business. The company is now offering 256 GB SD Express microSD cards for sampling, and has begun mass production of 1 TB UHS-1 microSD cards.

Samsung starts mass-producing 1 TB microSD cards, to be available in Q3 '24

The SD Express cards from Samsung boast read speeds of up to 800 MB/s, outperforming SATA SSDs (up to 560 MB/s) and traditional UHS-1 memory cards (up to 200 MB/s) by 4 times. They are equipped with Dynamic Thermal Guard (DTG) technology to regulate temperature even during extended usage.

The 1 TB microSD card from Samsung is created by stacking eight layers of its 8th-gen V-NAND technology. It has successfully passed rigorous testing and is expected to offer reliable performance even in extreme temperatures.

The 256 GB SD Express microSD card will be released for purchase later this year, while the 1 TB microSD card is scheduled to launch in the third quarter of 2024.
