Rumors have been circulating that Sony may remove the 4K display from the upcoming Xperia 1 model, as the aspect ratio shifts from 21:9 to 19.5:9. This would likely result in a change in the phone’s dimensions, with new leaked information revealing the updated values.
According to the leaks, the Sony Xperia 1 VI is anticipated to measure 162 x 74.4 x 8.45mm – 3mm shorter and slightly wider than the Xperia 1 V, which is 165 x 71 x 8.3mm. Recent renders show that Sony is sticking to its traditional design with top and bottom bezels, ensuring that important features like stereo speakers and a front-facing camera are not compromised by the loss in vertical space.

The new screen is expected to measure 149.6 x 69.4mm, resulting in a 19.4:9 aspect ratio and a 6.49” diagonal size compared to the previous model. The display will be slightly shorter vertically (by 2mm) but wider (by almost 5mm).

The Sony Xperia 1 VI is set to be officially unveiled in May. Previous leaks suggest that there will be an option with 16GB of RAM, in addition to the base model with 12GB. Rumors also mention the Xperia 5 VI with 8GB and Xperia 10 VI with 6/8GB RAM, but it is unclear if these models will also be launched in May.
