There have been consistent leaks surrounding the upcoming horizontal foldable from vivo, but one crucial detail has remained elusive – the launch date. According to a recent post on Weibo by user Panda is Bald, it seems that the new model (or models) will make their debut at the end of March.
The leakster has pointed to the March 26-28 timeframe (Tuesday to Thursday in the final week of the month) as a possible date for the launch event. This pertains to the vivo X Fold3 and the new Pro version. To provide context, the X Fold2 was revealed on April 20 last year, making this launch a month ahead of schedule.
A recent report suggests that the vivo X Fold3 Pro will be the first foldable to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, while the standard X Fold3 will use the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. However, another report hints at a potential Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 for the Pro model and a Dimensity 9300 for the regular version.
It is entirely possible that both reports hold some truth, as vivo has previously utilized different processors for Chinese and international variants of their phones.
Potential launch date for the vivo X Fold3 series • vivo X Fold3 Pro (speculative render)
The regular vivo X Fold3 is rumored to sport a triple 50MP camera setup, consisting of main, ultra-wide, and 2x tele lenses. On the other hand, the Pro model is expected to upgrade the third camera to a 64MP periscope lens (exact focal length unknown).
The Pro variant is anticipated to feature 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, aligning with the X Fold2 specifications. Additionally, the Pro model is said to be both water and dust-resistant, marking a first for vivo’s foldable devices.
In addition to the foldable phones, vivo may also introduce next-generation tablets – the vivo Pad 3 and Pad 3 Pro (with the Pro version being a new addition to the Pad lineup). These tablets are rumored to be powered by the Dimensity 9300 and Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipsets, respectively.
