The online world is an amazing place, and it was only a matter of time before someone decided to misuse the $3,500 Apple Vision Pro for “testing purposes”. If you’re squeamish about seeing devices being roughed up, you might want to skip watching the video.

All joking aside, although not conducted in a scientific manner, the video does offer some valuable insights into the overall durability of the headset. The good news is that under normal conditions, the Vision Pro held up well against minor bumps and scrapes. Aside from some scratches on the front glass, the device remained largely unharmed and fully functional.

However, it’s worth mentioning that drops should be avoided, surprisingly not because of the large curved front glass, which held up well, but due to the potential for catastrophic failure in one of the speakers. It appears that the area around the speakers and the user’s ears is a weak point, with a delicate hinge hidden inside that sustained damage in the video and even started protruding through the cover material.

Apple Vision Pro torture test is hard to watch but pretty informative

One important thing to note is that the light seal is not securely attached to the headset. It appears to be held in place only by magnets. This means that you should definitely avoid picking up the Vision Pro by the light shield, no matter how tempting it may be, as it will detach and the expensive device will fall to the ground.

Regardless, we recommend watching the video in its entirety as it reveals some interesting details about the device’s front glass. We won’t spoil it, but let’s just say that it might be considered somewhat “optional”.
