The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is on track to become one of the leading phones for photography, with Xiaomi introducing a mode called “MasterCinema” (which records 10-bit Rec. 2020 HDR videos) to showcase its filmmaking capabilities as well.

The company enlisted director Adam Bernstein and cinematographer Sam Chase to shoot a new movie named Roma Noir: Triple Jeopardy using the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.

Not only the phone, but the new Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4 tablet also boasts a feature called Director’s mode, enabling it to function as a remote monitor for up to four Xiaomi 14 Ultras. This feature aided the team in using the phone creatively on the go.

The compact size of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra allowed the filmmakers to capture shots in tight spaces. They also experimented by mounting the phone on bikes, cars, and even drones to achieve varying perspectives and motion effects.

The filmmakers were impressed by the camera’s features such as adjustable aperture, shutter speed, ISO controls, and variable frame rate. A glimpse behind the scenes of Roma Noir showcases how the movie was shot:

The full movie will be available for viewing soon.
