Motorola has unveiled the Moto G Play (2024) today. This device will be available to purchase in the US on February 8 through Amazon, Best Buy, and Motorola’s online store for a relatively low price of $149.99. Additionally, it will be sold by Consumer Cellular, Verizon, Xfinity Mobile, Visible, Cricket, AT&T, UScellular, Cox Mobile, Straight Talk, Walmart Family Mobile, Total by Verizon, and Simple Mobile.

In Canada, the release date is set for January 26, and it will be available at “select carriers and national retailers”, however the price has not been disclosed, only that it varies by carrier.

So what can we expect from the new Moto G Play (2024)? It comes with a 6.5-inch HD+ IPS LCD touchscreen with 720×1,600 resolution, a 90 Hz refresh rate, and Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3.

The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 680 chipset, which doesn’t support 5G. It has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. On the rear, there is a 50 MP camera with a LED flash, and for taking selfies, there is an 8 MP camera.

The Moto G Play (2024) has a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 15W wired charging, however, the necessary TurboPower 20W charger or higher is not included in the box. The device comes with Android 13, and there has been no mention of future updates.

On the positive side, it is IP52 certified, making it dust protected and capable of withstanding vertically dripping water from four positions, equivalent to a 3 mm (0.12″) rainfall per minute.
