We always see the guides and checklists when buying a used bike, but no one talks about the seller. Here we are again, but this time, we’ll do the checklist from the seller’s perspective. And we’ll know what to do when selling a bike in Pakistan.

Note: This is applicable when trying to sell through classified platforms like Pakwheels or… you know who.

Keep Space for Price Negotiations

If your bike’s market price is 120,000, you need to put 128,000 or 130,000 on the ad. Why?

Because people always negotiate with you no matter how reasonable the price you put on the ad. They’ll negotiate even if you put 100,000 on the ad, and if you don’t negotiate, they’ll reject your ad.

So, a wise decision is always to put 5-10% more into the price of your bike than the market rate. Therefore, when the party tries to negotiate with you, you’ll stay on the good offer side.

But don’t add too much price, otherwise parties will ignore your ad and think this person isn’t interested in selling the bike and has only posted the ad is just a bluff.

Be Polite

Selling is an art. If your bike is in good condition and well-maintained, you know it, but a potential buyer doesn’t. It would be best if you convinced them that your bike is the best option available.

Additionally, a bit of charm can make you seem welcoming, which often encourages people to favor your deal. It’s generally good practice—and ethically sound—to speak politely with buyers and customers.

Use Confident Tone

Just call the party to your house and tell them to have a look themselves, this is called confident tone. However, this only works if your bike is really what you have put in your ad. If there’s an issue in your machine, this tactic will not work, and you should also not try to fool your party, it’s not good.

Call them to your house and give them a test ride so they’ll know that your bike is good and that you’re a serious buyer.

Always Negotiate 1-1 Physically

Don’t negotiate on the phone. On the phone, no party is serious, and they just bluff the offer. If they are serious, they’ll visit your home, test-ride the bike, and then negotiate with you.

If they ask for your final offer, invite them to negotiate in person. Avoid discussing your offers over the phone, as this might make them feel it’s not worth pursuing. However, when you present an offer face-to-face, they’ll be more inclined to close the deal to avoid wasting their time, fuel, and effort on the visit and test ride. This leverages subtle psychological pressure.

You Should Also Set Realistic Offers

You should also ensure that you set realistic offers on the classified platform. Don’t just bluff on the ad, like putting a 150,000 price for your 2017 model CG125. Set realistic offers so you can sell your bike. Avoid bluffing; people are not foolish or dumb.

Don’t Chase After the Buyer

If the person is interested in your bike, they’ll contact you and buy your bike. You don’t need to chase after them and call them again and again, it isn’t ethical to chase after them and disturb them.

Just reach out to them one time. If they’re interested, they’ll surely call you again. Make sure to put a good price so more customers will contact you.
