Toyota’s success is highlighted by a strong 7.2% increase in global group sales last year, including contributions from subsidiaries Daihatsu and Hino Motors.
This marks the ninth time in the past decade that Toyota has surpassed the milestone of selling 10 million vehicles, a remarkable achievement in a challenging industry.

Challenges Ahead
Despite Toyota’s strong performance, challenges are on the horizon. Daihatsu, a subsidiary of Toyota, has suspended shipments of all its cars following a safety scandal investigation that implicated 64 models, including nearly two dozen sold under the Toyota brand.
This setback could potentially hinder the group’s sales momentum, as Daihatsu reported a 25% drop in global production and an 8% decline in worldwide sales in December.
Toyota Industries, a supplier to the automaker, also faced scrutiny, leading to the suspension of shipments for certain Toyota models, including the popular Hilux truck and Land Cruiser 300 SUV.
