Toyota Copen comes from the Japanese Kei car family and is under the badging of the GR (Gazoo Racing) category. Daihatsu, a subsidiary owned by Toyota, launched the sports car series in Japan back in 2017. Its sole focus was to produce the smallest cars with two-passenger seating capacity and smaller engines with practical displacement. Kei cars were found to be the best for enhancing the city commute.

Copen GR-Exterior

I bet you wouldn’t have ever seen such a compact car. The Toyota Copen GR is a hard-top convertible Kei car with a two-seater capacity. It’s front fascial gives you head-turning vibes with DRLs and fog lamps. In the same way as other Toyota cars, the Copen comes with a load of emblems on each side. Its 16-inch rims paired with low-profile Dunlop tires ensure a sporty look.

The rear has got a diffuser, dual exhausts, and a decent boot capacity, which stores the roof electronically. If you see a Copen, eventually you can match its design language with the Toyota Supra as it has a variety of elements that match the supercar.

Engine And Performance

Copen draws power from a 660 cc turbocharged engine, which boasts power of around 39 HP and 56 Nm of torque, the the same as that of a Suzuki Alto. This compact car weighs 850 kg and holds a fuel tank with a capacity of 30 liters.

Providing sharp maneuverability with a top speed of 140 km/hr and revving around 9000 rpm are some of its power figures. While it has a smooth suspension with sharp maneuverability, its fuel average is not that attractive, giving you only 9.5 km/l.

Interior and Technology

Despite its size, the car’s interior is full of options and features. Its best features include GR Recaro seats with upright positioning and cushioning.

Other tags and bits include a 7-inch infotainment display, Bluetooth connectivity, single climate control, engine start/stop button, defogger, switchable modes, 120W charger, rear-view mirror, and 4 speakers.

The Toyota Copen is a daily-drive compact car best for city commutes. If you’re looking to read more about interesting vehicles, rare finds, or collectible vehicles, visit PakWheels’ blog for your daily reading chunks.
